Stray Rescue of St. Louis has been saving animals for more than twenty years. However, this specific dog that they rescued about a year ago brought them tears to their eyes.
Olson is a white dog who spent many months under his owner’s stairs just outside their home. While Olson was still in his owner’s property, they did not pay a single ounce of attention to the dog.
Olson’s owners completely abandoned him outdoors and left him alone to fend for himself. Although Olson managed to keep himself alive despite not having any warm place to sleep or regular meals to eat, he became a sad, easily-frightened dog.
According to neighbors, he's been alone for months. "Are you going to save that dog?" they yelled to us. "I fed him back when it was really cold." He shook so hard from fear he brought us to tears. He's very dehydrated and hungry. Meet Olson, now safe with us. Strayrescue.org/Donate

When the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a non-profit organization based in Missouri, found out about the dog’s situation, they did not hesitate to help. They immediately went to the dog’s aid and saved him from the abuse he has been enduring.
When Stray Rescue volunteers arrived at Olson’s home, they did not find the dog’s owners. Olson’s human neighbors shouted at the rescuers, asking if they will save Olson.
Olson’s neighbors told the Stray Rescue volunteers that they have been feeding the dog despite the cold temperature. They added that the dog was not properly fed and did not receive any love at all.
While Olson’s kind neighbors who looked up to him helped him survive hunger, the dog suffered from emotional trauma. The rescue volunteers who saved Olson recalled that the dog could not stop shaking from fear.
Olson’s rescuers coaxed the dog with food, and he hesitantly walked up to his saviors. When the rescuers earned Olson’s trust, they brought the dog with them to the animal shelter where he received proper treatment.
Olson spent one and a half month in the shelter where he slowly recovered from his physical and emotional wounds. Olson received the happy ending he deserved because he got adopted into a home who will love him for good.
